Korean Ground Beef Bowls
No Image
Korean ground beef bowls are one of the fastest, most satisfying weeknight dinners you'll ever make. Seasoned ground beef comes together in a sweet-salty-savory sauce with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil in under 15 minutes. Served over rice with green onions and sesame seeds, it's a complete meal that tastes like your favorite Korean BBQ spot — no marinating, no special equipment required. The sauce uses pantry staples you already have.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 3 cups cooked white or brown rice
- Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
- Shredded carrots and cucumber slices for serving
- Optional: kimchi, soft-boiled egg
Instructions
- Cook rice according to package directions; keep warm
- Brown ground beef in large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking apart
- Drain most of the excess fat
- Add garlic and ginger; cook 1 minute
- Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes in small bowl
- Pour sauce over beef and stir to coat
- Cook 2-3 minutes until sauce is absorbed
- Serve beef over rice topped with green onions, sesame seeds, and desired garnishes
Notes
Use 80/20 ground beef for best flavor. Drain most but not all of the fat before adding sauce — a little fat helps the sauce cling.
